Maria Borges (born on October 28, 1992 in Luanda, Angloa) is an Angolan fashion model. Maria spent the first ten years of her life growing up in the middle of the Angolan Civil War, which didn’t end until 2002. By that time, Maria was dedicated to fashion. In 2010, she placed second at the Angolan edition of the contest, Elite Model Look. She signed with Supreme Agency in 2012 and made her Fashion week debut that year, walking 17 different runways. For her sophomore season, she was given a Givenchy exclusive. In 2013, Forbes crowned her the Top African Model. Over her short career, she has modeled for brands like Versace, Dior, Tom Ford, Marc Jabos and designers like Zac Posen, Anna Sui, Giafranco Ferre and Giorgio Armani. She has also been featured in advertising campaigns for H&M, Tommy Hilfiger and C&A. She appeared on the cover of Vogue Portugal in 2014, and has posed for Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire and Vanity Fair. She has walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show every year since 2013.
